deeper
Honeykit is a pretty little thing, quite befitting of a name that sounds as sweet as it is. She is rather daintily built, long, slim and leaning more towards the small side. In time, once she has had more time to grow and develop, that smooth kitten-esque appearance will give way to sleek, trim muscle. Never will she ever have to worry about excess weight, and in fact, some may worry that she doesn't quite weigh enough. As small as she is, though, she can throw her weight around pretty well in a good tussle, sliding around and getting into places plenty of cats can't. She is finely built, quite long from her nose to the tip of her slim, almost whip-like tail, and held up on fairly slender legs by paws just barely preportionate to her size. They are actually a bit bigger than usual, hinting that she still has a bit of maturing left to do, both in physical and mental aspects. Her head is wedge-shaped, with large ears that are usually seen perked forward, but with a feline as expressive as Honeykit, they can be seen any which way. Her eyes are large, round and carry a color also befitting of her name, a yellow-gold. They are always bright, always moving, and are probably one of her most prized features.
Already, her coat is smooth, short and soft, held close to her body. It bristles easily, and normally appears to be a bit ruffled along her shoulders and at the base of her tail, places that don't seem to stay down, no matter how much care and attention they recieve during grooming. In color, it is mostly a nice, average white as a base, covering her undersides, parts of her face, her neck and the utmost tip of her tail. The rest is covered in a pale ginger, a sort of sandy, tan-ish color, occasionally riddled here and there with darker stripes, the feature that gave this sweet bundle of joy her name.
» personality:
Strong-willed, controlling, dauntless, animated, nuisance, spontaneous, competitive
For a cat with a name that would resound with sweet and nothing else, Honeykit seems to defy the boundaries that appear to be set down by such a name. Yes, she has those momnts where she can be a sweet, kind kit. Overall, she isn't a bad one in the first place, though some may label her as anything but the perfect and most well-behaved female. What she lacks in discipline, though, she makes up for in spirit. She is a girl with a strong will, her "soft" exterior giving way to a tough little troublemaker. To be blunt, she is stubborn, a cat that will never be able to just let things drop. Once she sinks her teeth into something, whether it's something she wants or anything from arguments to praise, she won't let go until she's got her way. Honeykit will have the last word of she has anything to say about it, and that's that. There are no exceptions, and no concessions.
She wants to be the one in charge, the leader, the one who makes all the decisions and gets everyone to do what she wants them to. Honeykit would love it if everyone just listened to her, and though that doesn't ever seem to happen, she can still dream about it. Honeykit is a controlling cat, and it may sound as if she'll manipulate everyone to get her will, she'd rather leave that to sneakier cats. She'll just push and shove until she has the upper hand. It all leads back to getting her paws on what she wants, and not giving in until she gets there. As the pattern goes, Honeykit once again goes against the connotations of her name by being the bravest, most adventerous...okay, that's taking it a little too for. Basically, she's not afraid of much, in that "Take on the world" way that young ones seem to have, and is raring to go and do whatever to the point of being reckless. She's taken quite a few tumbles already, dealt with a good amount of scrapes, and quite a collection of scoldings, and it may just get worse as she ages and gains more freedom.
She is a very animated kit, always moving in some way. Whether it's her tail, ears of her actual limbs, she is never quite still. There is a energy about her, the kind that seems barely contained. It takes a lot of restraint, or at least a firm paw, to keep her in line. From the time she wakes up in the early morning, for this kit has the tendancy to be an early riser, to the moment she crashes at night, she is always active. No one likes to be in trouble, nor do they enjoy the punishment that comes along with it, but some cats just can't avoid causing major (or minor) amounts of havoc wherever they go. As cute as can be and as hard as it may be to stay mad at her for long, Honeykit often finds herself face to face with some stern adult who feels she has crossed a boundary yet again. There's just so much energy and spunk in one little body..she swears she can't help it. It may have something to do with the way she never seems to actually think things through. Honeykit is a cat of impulse, doing first and asking questions later.
This little whirlwind also has quite the competitive streak for someone her age, and will often get into arguments over anything, from games to appearances to what others think of her. Some of the times, these squabbles actually seem well-rounded, but most of the time they just dissolve into "Are not's" and "Are too's" somewhere along the line. Again, some cats don't know how to let go, especially Honeykit.
Then again, maybe she just doesn't want to.
» background:
This story starts quite a bit back, when Goldenstorm, Harefang, and Minnowtail were all apprentices, though just barely. The two she-cats had been friends from kithood, as their mothers had been friends before them. Harefang, at the time, was just that good-looking tom that they didn't really talk to, but both liked. They did everything together, the two of them, from training to eating to sleeping side by side in the den, their nests practically a mish-mahs of the other. Training went as training always seems to go, with the occasional hiccup. The two she-cats grew older, and though Minnowpaw's shared crush on Harepaw diminshed and eventually dissapeared, Goldenpaw still hung onto it and eventually plucked up the nerve and told him how she felt.
Luckily, the feelings were reciprocated. Goldenpaw wasn't the type of cat to handle rejection well.
The three became warriors together, gaining the names Goldenstorm, for her loud and passionate personality, Harefang, for his superb hunting skills and Minnowtail. Probably because it sounded nice, Goldenstorm always liked to joke. Somwhere along the line, Minnowtail met a tom of her own, though she never revealed the identity to Goldenstorm. As peeved as she was by the secret, Goldenstorm was thrilled for her friend, and would spend ages trying to guess. The two moved into the nursery, as they both grew heavy with kits, and resumes the nesting positions they'd taken as apprentices, not all that long ago. Minnowtail had always been a bit sickly, never quite as healthy as her sleek, golden tabby friend, and there were difficulties during the entire pregnancy and the following birth. Later on, when both she-cats had given birth to litters of one each, Minnowtail passed, and her closest friends took on her little one. Thus, Palekit and Honeykit were brought together.
It probably isn't the best union the clan has ever seen.
They've spent the past five moons picking away at each other, so much son that some cats tend to think they actually are sisters. Thnakfully, they aren't, because Honeykit woudln't be able to bear it. She still can't figure out how a cat like Palekit could be related to her in any way in the first place. They're just too different. Sometimes, Honeykit doubts her "sister" is even a cat in the first place. After all, something that weird just can't be feline. As first glance, they could actually be related, despite quite obvious size differences, but it's ever so obvious they aren't once you get closer. Neither kit is unaware of their heritage, and those present in the nursery at the time swear that Honeykit's sigh of relief at the reveal of the information could've woken up a slumbering cat in a neighboring clan.
Which might actually be true. She really was quite relieved at that information. Being Palekit's actual sister is part of a world Honeykit would never want to live in. [/ul]
