However, Sorrelfur's coloring is quite nice. Her base coat is a light brown color, overlaid with dark, almost black stripes that crisscross her body in a mixtures of swirls and dapples. Gradually the stripes fade out around her stomach, giving way to a creamy light brown color that follows the length of her belly and chest. It stretches up around her muzzles, lightening to a white as it goes. Her fur is thick and short, keeping her warm on the windy moors of WindClan's home.
» personality: All the fragility of Sorrelfur's demeanor comes directly from her personality. Timid and distrusting, she is quite jumpy and easily startled. She also lacks the concentration skills to be a good warrior, noticing every little thing going on around her at all time. It's hard to keep her attention on one thing for any extended amount of time before her eyes are darting around again, and often even during conversations it can be hard to have her undivided attention. This combined with her clumsiness just makes her a bad hunter and fighter in general.
It's no wonder that, without much else going for her, Sorrelfur threw herself into her belief of StarClan. When her ancestors fell silent, she went through a period of extreme emotional instability--worse than the usual, anyway. So it wasn't too much of a surprise that when the new leader-worshiping religion that WindClan adopted sprang up, Sorrelfur was among the first to accept it and push for it, finally seeming to have a purpose again. Perhaps she is the strongest Palestar worshiper in the Clan, or among the strongest.
Obviously Sorrelfur finds it hard to fit in, which just adds to her timidity and self consciousness. A few odd quirks make Sorrelfur an even stranger character to be around, such as waking before the sun rises, not touching anyone, or refusing to eat birds. There's just something about her that makes others want to either avoid her or speak carefully around her, likely due to her seemingly fragile mind. And, perhaps unsurprisingly, Sorrelfur is okay with this.
» background: Sorrelfur was the only she-kit of a litter of three born to two avid StarClan believers. Her parents, Thistlefoot and Hawkeye, were straight-laced and wanted their kits to grow up to be the best of the best. So when her brothers, Mudkit and Brackenkit, proved to be quick learners and rambunctious young things, their attention homed in on the two of them, leaving fragile, clumsy Sorrelkit out of the love loop. Instead of tussling with her brothers--she was far too dainty for such a thing, and wasn't very good at it, anyway--she listened to elders' stories and tales of StarClan. Upon discovering something she had the potential to be good at, she threw herself into the belief that StarClan would be there for them forever and always and never let them down.
The time of her apprenticeship rolled around, and, while Mudpaw and Brackenpaw excelled in all of their apprentice training, Sorrelpaw proved to be rather hopeless in all areas of expertise. Hunting? She tripped over her own paws when she ran. Fighting? She stumbled over every little thing. Not to mention her attention span! The sole thing she was relatively okay at was tracking, but she couldn't stay focused long enough to actually accomplish anything. Her brother graduated into warriors two whole moons before Sorrelpaw, and she wasn't exactly ready when she did graduate, either.
Nevertheless, at the age of fifteen moons, Sorrelpaw received the name Sorrelfur, further highlighting her lack of skills. Cats tended to avoid her if at all possible, though more likely this was simply because she didn't make a lot of effort in the whole social circle thing. As long as she had StarClan, she was alright.
And then StarClan fell silent. When the medicine cats came and went to the Moonstone without any contact with their ancestors, Sorrelfur found her whole belief system spiraling out of control. She went through a period of emotional breakdown, as if she hadn't lost ancestors she'd never had contact with but her entire family. For several moons she was in a pit of despair, not even realizing when both of her brothers, among many others, were killed at the last Gathering of the Clans.
And, finally, she found reconciliation in something. A new religion sprung up from somewhere, starting with one cat and gradually spreading throughout the Clan. Sorrelfur found consolation in this new idea, and threw everything she had into worshiping the WindClan leader, Palestar.
It's hard to tell what she'll do if this falls through, too.[/ul]
