Welcome, visitor. Welcome to a forest where four Clans reside in constant competition, where loners and rogues struggle on the sidelines, where the strong are outmaneuvered by the weak and the brave make their own way through will alone. Welcome to a forest where StarClan does not speak, and no cat knows the reason for their silence. In a forest where nothing is certain, the only constant is the will of individuals to survive because every breath could be their last.

When the ancestors they vaunted went silent, there was confusion at first. Then there was panic and fear, unrest and blame. Moons passed without a word from the Clans' starry ancestors, and tensions rose until at last a bloodbath at Fourtrees put an end to the Gathering tradition. Thus began a period of silence between all the Clans of the forest—one which continues to stretch on with no end in sight.

Now StarClan has been silent for a full year, and chaos still reigns. ThunderClan and RiverClan are on the verge of war, and conflict within ShadowClan has split the Clan into two factions—the believers and the rebels. No cat hears from WindClan any more, as they keep to themselves and their so-called prophet, worshipping her in lieu of the ancestors who no-longer offer their guidance. As falling leaves herald the leaf-bare that is on its way, no cat knows what the coming moons will hold for the forest's four Clans.

[/b] Shadekit is very much his father's kit. Though his build is suspiciously similar to those of ShadowClan. His body is naturally slender and catered more towards stealth than fighting. Shadekit's fur is solid black, much like his father's. His fur is slightly longer than Batflight's. Shadekit also has his father's yellow eyes. These yellow eyes always seem to be observing everything around him. Shadekit constantly examines his surroundings and the cats nearby, observing what he can from them. Another trait he inherited from his father were the ears. They are, to put it simply, Shadekit's shame. They're large, pointed, and much too big for his kit-sized head. In fact, his ears are probably his one insecurity despite the fact everyone tells him he will eventually grow into them. Everything else about him, at least, is perfectly normal. Though Shadekit almost seems to be unusually healthy. Whenever other kits are sick, Shadekit never catches it. It doesn't matter how much time he spends around the infected kits, it never rubs off on to him. This is a trait that most attribute to his father, who is notorious for not getting sick and working through injuries. It could be said that Shadekit is simply a smaller shadow of his father. It's true they're very much alike in appearance, but the two could not be farther apart in personality.

» personality: Shadekit, from the moment he learned to speak, was vindictive and criticizing. Nothing seemed to please him. The food was disgusting, the den had cracks in its structure, the queens did not know how to properly care for kits. No one doubted his obvious intelligence, nor did they doubt his massive ego. Shadekit has a very bad case of Know It All Syndrome, and it appears to be there to stay. The only cat who does not fall victim to these scathing remarks is his father. Shadekit idolizes his father and will follow him around whenever he gets the chance. When it comes to his 'brothers', Shadekit often has mixed emotions around them. Both Redfang and Bluebird are both credible warriors, and he admits to that much. At times he goes out of his way to be cruel for them for splitting his father's attentions. Other times he will actually run to them for their advice and treats them as if they were kin. Both Redfang and Bluebird seem to be used to this, and they never seem to be bothered by it. Shadekit often tries to act more mature and grown-up, and sometimes will refuse advice from even his own father. He often refuses to partake in 'kit games' and refuses to associate himself with cats his own age. Instead he spends as much time with the warriors as possible. Shadekit often wishes he could become an apprentice earlier and resents the fact he has to wait until he is six moons old to do so.

» background: Shadekit's birth was a bit of surprise to the Clan. Kestrelflower, his mother, never showed many signs of being pregnant. But all the same she delivered Shadekit in the middle of the night and was nursing him quietly in the nursery when everyone else awoke. Kestrelflower quickly pronounced Batflight to be the father, though it was fairly obvious considering how much Shadekit resembled him. This, again, surprised the Clan. No one had known for them to be involved with each other, and after his birth neither were particularly affectionate towards each other. Shadekit was the only kit of the litter, and he was strong and healthy one. He nursed often and grew quickly. Soon he was tumbling around the nursery with the other kits. He received plenty of attention from the queens, though they always suffered his criticisms whenever they tried to dote on him. The only ones Shadekit would allow to 'spoil' him were Bluebird and Redfang. Even then they knew that he did not like to be treated as a kit and would keep anything they did to a minimum.

When he was around three moons old, Shadekit began trying to learn everything he could. He demanded to be taught about the four Clans and their foundings, StarClan and their silence, prey of all kinds, anything that may be useful to him as a warrior. His 'brothers' were usually willing to tell him what they knew, and Batflight would often lecture to him for a long time on any given subject. After his brief and sudden thirst for knowledge was quenched, Shadekit began acting as if he were an expert on all of these subjects. This was also when he began distancing himself from his 'childish peers' and began spending more time with the warriors. Specifically, his father.

Nowadays Shadekit spends his time trying to catch crickets that wander into the camp and following his father around when he can. He's severed almost all ties with the other kits, and they now largely exclude him from their play. While this seems to worry his ragtag family, Shadekit could not care less. He has no time for their petty attempts to get back at him for pointing out their failings. Though it seems that calling him Bigears is a good enough way to irritate and hurt him.[/ul]
