» appearance : Delicate . Small . Fragile . Shadowy . Fine . Pale . Subdued
Brindlepaw is quite small-boned, an unimposing creature who can be glimpsed traversing the shadows of her Clan's territory with quiet, shadowy grace. Her short pelt ripples over slender curves and angles, revealing just how delicate her form truly is. Brindlepaw's fur is a soft mixture of pale grey and cream, with white blossoming at her throat and tipping each of her paws. Her whiskers are feathery and soft as well, and the only features that stand out on her pale form are her small pink nose and her dark blue eyes. Even without any cats nearby for contrast, her extreme reticence makes itself obvious in every line of her body. Brindlepaw has a certain fragile beauty to her name, but she is far from breathtaking. She's the kind of cat to curl up in the shadows, well out of the limelight. Such things are not for her. In battle she is forced to use her small size and agility to the best of her ability, since she is well aware that she will never be able to physically overpower any full-grown warrior. Out of battle, her small form and quick reflexes prove their worth in another way; although not a notable fighter or tracker, she is on her way to being one of the best hunters in the Clan.
» personality : Quiet . Focused . Introverted . Thoughtful . Reserved . Solemn
Never one to act rashly or make a scene, Brindlepaw is a quiet cat who does a lot of thinking, but speaks infrequently. Thoughts born inside of that brain of hers go through several long steps of elimination and revision before they ever make it out in the form of an action or idea. As a direct result of this, she doesn't come across as clever, and isn't good at thinking on the fly. Brindlepaw gets flustered easily in any situation which demands quick responses and tends to fade into the background as much as possible in conversation. Speaking with strangers is especially difficult, as she tends to over-think any response or idea whenever confronted by a cat she isn't well-acquainted with. Or, worse, if she's confronted by a cat whom she wants to impress.
Stressful social situations tend to elicit a sort of 'deer in the headlights' response from Brindlepaw, which really isn't fair to her intelligence or potential in any other area. As a cat with a lot of passion and dedication, but not a lot of charisma, she gets overlooked by many in favour of those with more confidence. If any trait could be assigned to Brindlepaw other than reticence, it would be studiousness. She is constantly seeking to learn and improve in all areas, and is slow to pass judgements on even the most straightforward issues. Having been born well after StarClan's silence, she is inclined to be in the non-believers camp but has no animosity for any of those who still believe the ancestors will return.
» background : As a kit, Brindlepaw was playful and happy. She loved her sister and mother, enjoyed playing and chasing, and loved listening to the elder's stories. Even as a young cat she was more thoughtful than her sister, prone to spending long periods of time in silence as she quested to understand the world in which she was growing up. She liked to listen to stories as often as possible and enjoyed puzzles and mysteries more than tussling with her sister, though of course she enjoyed that as well. Because her father died when she and her sister were very young, Brindlekit never grew to know him well. She spent her youngest days happily frolicking in the safety of the nursery, content with the company of her mother and sister. Despite being born just a moon before leaf-bare began, Brindlekit and Lightkit thrived and were ready to become apprentices by the time greenleaf was on its way.
On the day that Brindlekit and Lightkit were made apprentices, the two sisters presented themselves to the leader for the ceremony and were assigned mentors, in the usual fashion. Lightpaw immediately embarked on a quest to speak with every apprentice from those close to her own age to the ones almost ready to become warriors. True to form, Brindlepaw shadowed her more boisterous sibling and responded to questions when they were asked of her. Now that she had moved out of the safety of the nursery and entered Clan life as active participants, it would be much more difficult for the young she-cat to isolate herself from everyone who wasn't family. For the first couple of moons, she made a genuine effort to become more integrated into the daily activities and gossip that went on in camp. It wasn't her area of skill, however, and Brindlepaw soon fell into the background once again, too weary of putting so much effort into something she didn't have any passion for. Besides, she was supposed to be concentrating on her training anyway. No cat would blame her for putting her social life on hold while she was still working towards her warrior name.
