Looking at her, however, you can certainly see why she was named Fawn upon birth. She's a delicately colored tabby- soft light brown in coloration with quaint spots of cream across her body. One prominent spot is on her face- starting in a little 'v' formation and stretching across both her eyes. Another spot is on her bottom jaw- which stands out against the white she has there. Which is another thing- along with her patches of cream Fawnheart is covered in little white spots. Her muzzle and chin are both white, as is her neck, (the front and sides, at least), and her back legs are entirely white. To top it off her front paws look as if she dipped them in milk- they're just little specks compared to the rest of the white on her.
Lastly Fawnheart has a velvet red nose and large, yellow-green eyes. As large as a kit's, you might say- that was another thing her mother always told her she'd grow into.
» personality : nurturing . determined . gentle . set in ways . habitual . passive aggressive . motherly
There's always been one cat who the kits all seem to favor in the elder's den- the one who they know would let them get away with anything. That cat is Fawnheart. She's always been one to mother the kits and apprentices who come her way- clean their face, muss their fur- it's a second nature to her now. She even treats most of the warriors in the same way. She takes it upon herself to be the mother for the Clan- the gentle she-cat everyone needs in their life to keep them on the right track.
She's well known and well loved in the Clan, because of this, and is especially loved for how easily she can calm her mate, Foxstar, down whenever he gets especially riled up. Apprentices will be apprentices, dear- there's no need to get in such a tiff over them goofing off, etc etc. That's not to say she isn't a stickler for tradition like her mate- far from it! But while Foxstar will verbally let you know when he's upset with you- Fawnheart goes for... more subtle means. Passive aggressive comments, the cold shoulder, sneers across the camp- or worse- the guilt. Of course you don't care about years of tradition- about how you're breaking our hearts. She's good at making you feel bad and better at making you upset at yourself. She knows how to turn the conversation around- make how you're upset be all about her.
But your ire with her over things like this is forgotten rather quickly- because once she's determined you've been sufficiently hurt- she'll turn back into the sweet, motherly cat she was moments before. You've been punished enough, for now.
But don't think she'll forget. She won't.
» background : Born in the heart of Leaf-Bare, Fawnheart's early kithood was anything but easy. She was the strongest of the litter by far but, her mother was ill when she was born and the medicine cat doubted any of the litter- or Gingerstep- would make it.
Leopardkit lasted a moon before passing.
Hornetkit lasted until his fifth moon.
And Fawnheart- well she's still here, seasons later.
Her apprentice ceremony was a somber event, both she and her mother still mourning Hornetkit's death. She was mentored by a kind, gentle tom- Owlclaw- and over the coming moons learned quite a lot in his tutelage. When she was eight moons old Gingerstep, her beloved mother and close companion, shocked the clan by returning to the nursery. The older warriors thought she would wait for having another litter, still so soon after losing Hornetkit but, Gingerstep had other ideas.
Brindlekit was born a moon later- and her birth was a bloody, terrible mess. The kit survived the birth but, Gingerstep did not.
Fawnheart spent most of her waking hours those following moons in the nursery with her father- constantly checking in on her little sister. The medicine cat feared, once more, that Brindlekit, like her elder siblings before her, would pass away.
But she did not.
The kit made it to see Fawnfeather's warrior ceremony- and even became an apprentice. Dustnose and Fawnheart breathed a sigh of relief. It seemed the worst was over.
After her warrior ceremony Fawnheart caught the eye of a young tom by the name of Foxeye. The two became close and, after a lot of teasing on her part, and wooing on his, officially became mates on the eve of Fawnheart's sixteenth moon- when she announced she was pregnant. It was soon after this announcement that Fawnheart found herself in labor- too soon, actually- and her first litter was full of nothing but stillborns.
Her second litter was the same- one stillborn kit- one that had never developed fully. Fawnheart was devastated.
With her mother's own history of bad luck with kits Fawnheart should have known that kitting would be difficult for herself, as well.
She and Foxeye waited a little while after their second litter before attempting again- and this time- they struck gold. Three kits, two toms and a she-cat, all healthy and perfect. Fawnheart adored them- though the world of them. Oak-kit, Beechkit, and Cherrykit were gifts sent from StarClan- they could do no wrong in her eyes.
The moons following her kits' birth were the happiest moons Fawnheart had. But her happiness was not meant to last. When the kits were five moons old they decided to go on a grand adventure- and Fawnheart and Foxeye found them flailing in the river- their little bodies thrown against rocks. Foxeye leaped into the river to save them while Fawnheart pleaded with a passing by RiverClan patrol to help- to save her kits! They shrugged it off- not their clan, not their problem- and Fawnheart will never forget the faces of the cats who refused to save her children. Her only children. Fernstar- the late Heronclaw- and ---.
Foxeye managed to fish Cherrykit out before she succumbed to the water in her lungs- but Fawnheart's poor boys never made it out of the river.
She would never forgive RiverClan- especially not after Cherrykit died only days later.
After her kits' deaths Fawnheart began to see less and less of Foxeye- his bright smile continually reminding her of the kits she had lost. Time healed their rift, however, and after Foxeye became Foxstar- they became mates again.
They never had any more kits, however, Fawnheart always feeling as if it would tarnish the memories of her lost children- but over the years she has begun to see the Clan as her children- and they need her just as much as any hypothetical kits would.[/ul]
