» description : Long-haired, tortoiseshell she-cat with amber eyes.[/ul]
deeper
The second thing you would notice about Sorrelkit is her coloration. Dark chocolate brown in color, the little she-cat is covered in patches of orange, tawny, cream, and tan. Prominent spots are her face, which is mottled with orange spots, her tail, which is covered in a tawny color, and her front legs which have faint spots of tawny-brown across them. She even has a small dab of white on her chest! While Sorrelkit is often reserved and shy about her long fur and size- her actual pelt color is something she's quite fond of. No two tortoiseshells have the same pattern, you know- she's the only one who looks like her.
Lastly you would notice her face- which is round in shape. Her chin is somewhat large and her nose is crooked- but her eyes are large, round and innocent- and she likes to think they draw your attention away from her crooked nose. They're amber in color and one eye even leans slightly towards hazel. Her face is topped off with long, white whiskers- which stand out against her fur- and large tufts of white fur that curl out from her ears- and even tip them too.
Her mother says she looks very 'well put together'- but that's up for you to decide.
» personality : reserved . no nonsense . stickler for rules . hard headed . dedicated . habitual . pragmatic . loyal
Seeing as she was never the most friendliest or outgoing cat in the nursery Sorrelkit has always had a hard time of standing out. She could make friends, yes but, they always preferred another cat over her. Sorrelkit just never stood out very much, what with her tending to stand back and watch rather than play games.
As of late the she-cat has become even more reserved- often saving her opinions for her family or close friends. She doesn't see the point in running her mouth or playing kit games much anymore. She's going to be an apprentice now, after all, and should act like one. She's always been a bit no nonsense- a fuddy-duddy if you will- but as her apprentice ceremony comes closer and closer she gets worse and worse.
It's not that she doesn't like games but, she just wants to be mature so bad. She's practically grown now, you know. Or at least so she says. Sometimes if you try hard enough you can get some playful banter out of her- or for her to actually join a game. Not that most of the kits or younger apprentices would want her to join in, anyway. They remember Sorrelkit as the referee- the one who'd always run for a queen if they broke a rule. The stick in the mud type.
She's always been like this- very keen on using her brain to get through problems rather than feelings- and the type who wants to follow the warrior code to her fullest ability. She's heard stories of StarClan and thinks they must have been on the right track with the code and all if they had been following it for so long. And still are, of course! RiverClan is a loyal clan. No matter what ThunderClan says.
She's the type to take the leader's word as law- she dislikes ThunderClan because of this- and is very hard headed about her beliefs. She's dedicated to them too, of course, but she's more stubborn than anything.
But she's also loyal. She cares deeply for her family and the few close friends she has- she'd do anything for them- and puts their safety above anything else. Which, yes, means if she thinks something a friend is doing is dangerous- she'll rat them out.
But it's for their own good, of course.
Rules were meant to be followed.
» background : Toadwhisker, when she found out about her pregnancy, was ecstatic. This was to be her first litter with her mate, Brownclaw, and it was the perfect season for kits, as well. Green Leaf. It'd be hot, certainly but, she wouldn't have to worry about her kits freezing to death or a lack of food. The river was swelling that Green Leaf- fish were in an abundance.
Her mate, Brownclaw, a fresh faced warrior, was just as excited for the news as his queen was. Kits! He had always been good with his younger siblings or fellow apprentices- he'd be a natural at being a father, too. He just knew it.
Determined to be the best father he could be Brownclaw decided he'd start early- catching all the prey he could to feed his pregnant mate. Mice, frogs- whatever he could find. He was always a good hunter. Perhaps not the best swimmer in RiverClan- but he was getting there.
One day, however, seven sunrises before Toadwhisker was due, Brownclaw waded out into the river. Toadwhisker loved fish more than anything and her young mate was determined to catch her the biggest fish he could find. The water was rough that day, however, and one mis-step led the tom to being pulled by the current- dashed against the rocks. He went into the water at Dawn- and by Dusk his body was found.
Toadwhisker was devastated. Nothing could pull her from her depression- nothing until she finally gave birth to her kits. One tom and one she-cat- her darlings. It awoke her from her depression and one look at her kits made the queen determined to never let any harm come to them.
Since then, her youngest kit, Sorrelkit, has never strayed too far from her mother's side. Toadwhisker is protective, overly so, and Sorrelkit has never known the real feeling of a play fight. Her kit hood has been relatively boring but, she's nearing apprentice age now, and the kit is rather excited to become an apprentice- to actually get to do some things!
