» description: A calico she-cat with green eyes.

» appearance: Mapleshade is a richly colored calico she-cat with fiery amber eyes. Her ginger patches are deep reddish-orange, closer to russet than bright ginger. She is mottled in large patches of black, white and red ginger, most of her fur being black or ginger with a spattering of white here and there. Her pale green eyes are vivid and flecked with gold. Her tail tip has about and inch of white before transitioning into black and her front right paw has a white mitten. Her underbelly is black and white and the majority of her ginger is on her outer-fur.
» personality: She is a very proud cat, despite having a questionable upbringing. No one is exactly sure id she is clan born or not, not even her. But she has gone out of her way to prove herself and is very proud of the fact that she has come so far. She is a fierce fighter but can be found lounging high up in a tree, watching the world around her. She is very quiet and almost calm when others aren't around, but she is very defensive and harsh around others. She isn't the best when it comes to hunting or fishing, but her battle skills are quite impressive and she is very proud of the fact that she can hold her own against multiple larger toms at once. She is very reliable under pressure, but modest. She refuses to take credit for her feats in battle, shrugging them off as nothing. Even now, as a grown she-cat, she has trouble talking in large groups or in stressful situations. Regularly, she only speaks to defend herself or when absolutely necessary. She spend very little time with her clanmates because of this social awkwardness and inability to speak to others properly and instead practices her battle skills or tries to improve in hunting. She has no current desire to be a queen, since then she wouldnt be able to fight. Maybe if she found a mate she would consider it, but she despises the queens who stay in the nursery without kits to help other queens instead of returning to warrior duties. Her life in Riverclan is based around her duties and ever since her incident as a kit, is a firm believer in Starclan.
» background: Mapleshade's origin is unknown. She was found as a very young kit, swept up in the river's current from who knows where. She was icy cold and not breathing when she was found by (idk pick someone) and brought to the medicine cat, who was able to bring her back from the brink of death. She was in shock for nearly a moon afterwards, unable to bring herself to talk. When she became an apprentice, she had a very hard time fitting in with the other young cats. She still talked very little and trusted no one but the medicine cat who had saved her life. Despite being so close to Yewberry in all of his cynical, sarcastic glory, she knew that she was destined to fight for her clan. Even though she dedicated her self to her clan, the other apprentices were wary of her since she wasnt born or raised in the nursery like the rest of them. During training, she tended to go to hard and accidentally hurt her sparring partners, despite keeping her claws sheathed. This only increased the amount she was avoided by the other apprentices, and she often found herself alone. AS they got older the other apprentices started to realize that she was very different from them but that it wasnt her fault. She had a troubled kithood and it changed her. She was avoided less and less but she still didnt talk much and snapped at other cats when they tried to gain her trust.
On another note, Mapleshade's parents had abandoned her way upriver. She was the daughter of two alleycats who couldn't care less about their litter, and her and her littermates were left to die. A storm soaked their nest, a cardboard box, through and they mewled until a twoleg saved them. Mapleshade wasn't grateful for the twoleg help, unlike her siblings, and managed to sneak out on her own once she had been weaned off of milk. She ended up falling into the river and was washed downstream to the forest where the clans resided and was saved by a Riverclan patrol. She remembers none of this after a knock on the head during her struggle in the river's current, which was also the reason she was unconscious and barely struggling when she was found.
