This handsome looking fellow is Sheepclaw. Yes, not the best of names but it certainly shouldn’t paint the picture alone. He’s a leggy tom that looks scrawny to the untrained eye. Granted, any proper mother would certainly egg him on to put weight on his bones, but he still holds his own easily, size aside. While Sheepclaw would love to be some towering brute, reality is that he's almost on the small end for a cat and no amount of legs can fix that. When you're small, you're small. At least the rest of him is normal in build. Not a whisker too long or a hair placed haphazardly. Nope, perfect in every way! Least that's how he likes to play it off as, vain little thing. It's his coat and eyes, however, that are the icing on this cake. A patch of black over his head, covering along his back and across the side of his legs, and all the way down his tail. The rest, bright white. Well, excluding that adorable dark nose! Sheepclaw finds a lot of pride in his colors and thinks he is the cat's meow. But if you aren't impressed there, how about those bright, pale green eyes? Sharp and attentive, if full of mischief. Overall, he's a pretty handsome thing in his own eyes and seems to assume everybody else thinks the same.
» personality:
Willing . Plucky . Humorous . Relaxed
Warrior life isn't half bad if you have proper warriors all around you. Sheepclaw may not be the best, but he certainly does carry some worthwhile traits. For one, he's always willing to do what it takes for his clan. If they need him to hunt or patrol or battle, he's always there to take that step. It should also be known that bravery follows suit with that. Fighting has never been an issue in his mind and Sheepclaw has no qualms following in his mother's pawsteps. She was brave to the point of stupidity, but hey! That's part of him too now. The one thing different from him and his parents would be his less-than-serious nature. Sheepclaw loves joking around. Teasing others is a nice little way to pass the time. Okay, not everybody appreciates it but he's just joking! Even when some cats may be mad at his "fun" jokes, Sheepclaw rarely seems to get stressed out. In fact, he's very laid back and tends to even look at moments of seriousness with a lazy-like attitude. Maybe it isn't totally appreciated, but it's nice to have at least one cat around not constantly stressing about the going-on's of the world.
Impulsive . Bully . Vulgar . Vain
The downside to Sheepclaw- well, that's a good majority. For every good there is a flipped negative. He's willing? Well, he's impulsive. Acting on his own will, when he wants, and at times straying from the original goal. His father had always hoped he'd grow out of this little stage yet he still hasn't done so. Maybe a little more maturity will clean him of his radical actions. Where he's a joker, he's favored to be a bully. Teasing is a way of play but his take on a harsh tone at times. His favorite target is Cherrypaw who easily bites back at his taunts. She seems to be the only one who can take his tasteless humor. He's very in-your-face and often stretches to the side of rude. Caring for others isn't his strong suit, but caring for himself? Now that is a talent he has soared with. Sheepclaw, despite his hatred for his own name, has always considered himself to be the most handsome of toms in RiverClan and takes a great deal of care to keep it that way. It's the pelt. Or maybe the whiskers. No wait, it's the paws. Screw it, it's everything! Sheepclaw is constantly worried about looking good in front of those he wants to impress. It's not just looks either. It's fighting and hunting and patrolling- anything he can take pride in. While not so much arrogant, he certainly doesn't feel bad about himself in any way.
» background:
Tallhawk, proud and handsome, was mate to Cootwhisker, brave and mighty. Okay, so that's just how he remembers them but in all reality, Tallhawk and Cootwhisker weren't bad as a couple. Granted, there seemed to be a stuffy sense of nobility between the duo that wasn't exactly "love." But it worked. Cootwhisker had two little kits. The first was her pride and joy- Sheepkit. He took after his mother, black and white and just as gorgeous. The other, however... he was young. Pure white, sickly, and hardly the energy to move. Egretkit didn't survive the night and that left Sheepkit to be the only survivor. Growing up, he never had much to hear about his brother. His parents refused to really acknowledge that Egretkit was even born to begin with. Perhaps it hurt their pride to see such a scrawny litter with only one surviving kit.
It wasn't a bad upbringing, honestly. Cootwhisker preferred to sleep among warriors than kits and spent plenty of time away from her only son. Tallhawk took up the other socialization necessities. He tried his best to teach his son from an early age, even if just telling him stories to encourage bravery and loyalty. When he was four moons old, Cootwhisker demanded to go with her fellow warriors. Sheepkit wasn't sure why she was going when other queens were going to stay behind, but he didn't argue. Tallhawk had always said never to argue with them.
The thing is, Cootwhisker didn't come back. Tallhawk, unknown to Sheepkit, brought back his mate's body and refused to let the tiny tom see her like that. He understood she was gone, but never could grasp it personally. It was like the idea of having just lost his mother completely went over his head. Tallhawk, colder than ever, simply assured he was living as his son was cared for by others.
Six moons, finally an apprentice. Sheep-paw was proud as ever and looked to his father for approval. A nod of the head and- was that a smile? Sheepclaw isn't sure whether he truly smiled, but it was good enough. Perhaps he only smiled because his only son was lucky enough to be named apprentice to the one and only Thornstar. While many didn't trust the half-clan cat, Sheep-paw never understood it. The tom was precise, if stressed, and had plenty to offer the youngster.
And excitement went right out the reeds after that. Sheep-paw had to keep up with his leader and mentor, which proved to be more than average training. If that wasn't bad enough, Tallhawk was always reminding his son about Cootwhisker's sacrificed. How she gave her very life to defend this clan, defend him and Thornstar, and all that was right. His (unhealthy) way of dealing with it all was forgetting. He simply let it slide off his shoulders and never addressed the personal stress and emotionally crushing reality.
Then there was Cherrypaw. Yeah, that little weirdo. Even when she was Cherrykit, the two played and teased each other. The older she got, the ruder the two became and soon medicine cat and warrior apprentices were seen as rivals. He couldn't pass her den without making some snide remark. Granted, he was often chewed out afterwards for his rudeness, but that didn't stop the two from bickering.
Through all of that, success finally came. After moons of training under Thornstar, he passed his evaluation. (Granted, it took a few times but he made it.) And just in time too! Only recently had he finished his vigil and rightfully earned his name as Sheepclaw. But does that mean everything's good? Tallhawk has resumed his cold demeanor and with training over, he doesn't even get to spend his time watching how stressed out Thornstar can get! Least he still can tease that silly she-cat Cherrypaw. At least for now.[/ul]
