There’s one thing when you say a large cat. Some may think a towering brute of muscle and all legs. For Heavystep, well, perhaps it is best said in his name. Heavystep is one big cat. He isn’t chubby like a kittypet, but he certainly favors that “big boned” category over many of his lankier friends in the clan. With that in mind, he does come across as being quite stout. While some may be graceful and long-legged like cats should be, Heavystep seems to be down-to-earth in its most literal translation. A sturdy, heavyset body makes him a powerful foe on the battlefield. This robust creature’s brawn is his greatest strength when all else fails. Of course, that doesn’t make him perfect. In exchange for his honestly chubby appearance, his paws look odd on such little legs and his average sized tail and ears are only dwarfed with him. Heavystep is a dusty brown-grey tabby with delicate, fine stripes all along his pelt until his legs where they darken and thicken considerably. White patches all over him, running across his nose, neck, chest, down his stomach, and making adorable socks and mittens on his paws. A little pink nose and short, snowy whiskers make for a kitten-like face. Yet it’s when one meets the pale yellow eyes of this cat, they won’t see a kitten but a wise warrior with a gentle heart. In the end, this burly boy is nothing but a gentle giant.
» personality:
Agreeable . Thoughtful . Imaginative . Gentle Giant
A kit in a massive body basically. It’s hard to not at least see the good in Heavystep with his friendly and sweet nature. Naturally, he is the type to be amicable with most any cat. Arguments are what he dreads and he’ll be the yes-man so long as it avoids conflict. Some may not consider this to be a truly positive trait as with his pleasant nature will be a cat less directed towards the violence the coming wars may require. In any case, excluding the duties of a warrior, there’s still something whimsical about this cat. He looks out for his companions as a friend and tries his best to cheer them up when they are down. Heavystep still carries a great deal of his imaginative mind from the kit days and plays off of it when he can. Overall, the one thing that everybody seems to agree on is that this brute of a cat is nothing more than a gentle giant at heart. No matter how large his claws can be or how intimidating he can be just from the view, no part of him wants to be vicious or harmful to any.
Pushover . Nervous . Slow Minded . Gullible
Heavystep, however, is not all sweet and love. He’s a pushover, easily walked over by mot any cat. He has never had much of a backbone in comparison to what warriors are expected to be. On top of that, his intense aversion to any sort of conflict has made him a nervous, and almost anxious, companion in any situation that includes fighting. Slow to act and hesitant, it’s best to rely on him for his hunting more than his battling because he is so easily washed over with guilt when harming another. No matter the clan, this guy seems to fail to see the purpose of violence. Then again, Heavystep has never been to bright to begin with. One must be direct when addressing him because logic is the downfall to him. It’s made him not only slow to think but easily persuaded. Even joking doesn’t go over well because Heavystep can be literal from his lack of smarts. Still, loveble and sweet powers on if one can ignore the weak, dimwitted fool he could be seen as.
» background:
Heavykit and Adderkit. What a sweet little duo that were different from the start. On one side, you had Adderkit. The tabby-and-white tom was so much like Shrewheart. Brave, eager, and a spark of life to those around him. On the other, you had Heavykit. Minkclaw’s baby boy and sparkle in her eye. Gentle, sweet, and more content sleeping and snuggling than ever bothering with fighting or roughhousing. They were different from the start. Minkclaw treasured her youngsters and Shrewheart always was eager to spend time with his own kits as well. It wasn’t like they had a bad upbringing, considering the times to come. In fact, some would consider it the best for a kit to have. Their parents weren’t young and foolish, rather senior warriors who had waited until the right moment (in their minds) to have kits. So what caused such trouble to brew?
Adderkit was small. He was a runt in comparison to his larger, far healthier brother. Heavykit, while naive to his own size, was even more oblivious to Adderkit’s jealousy. Even when they became warriors, that jealousy never died.
Eventually, the two were named apprentices and Heavypaw was more than happy to take up training. Now, the idea of battling freaked him out and it took plenty of practice to even encourage the timid tom to try, but training was no struggle otherwise. Adderpaw showed extreme talent in battling, however. Where his sibling hesitated, he excelled greatly. Yet there was one thing he just couldn’t get over. Adderpaw was still small for a cat and dreamed of being a proper warrior to the clan. What kind of cat could guard his clan if one warrior could easily overwhelm him? Unlike Heavypaw who could still stand with two other apprentices almost draped over his back! (Least it seemed that way at the time.)
One day, he just snapped. Not Heavypaw. Adderpaw. He cringed as Adderpaw shouted at him, screaming about how lucky he was to be powerful in body, yet he was a disgrace for being so weak in heart. The two never really spoke properly for the rest of their apprenticeship. It was cold, scary even. For Heavypaw who relied on others for a source of backbone, he suddenly felt weaker than ever. Luckily. warriorhood was only around the corner and the brothers stood side by side once more to be named.
Heavystep and Adderblaze.
It didn’t help much to their relationship. Heavystep tried everything to get Adderblaze to recognize him again. It rarely worked outside of cold responses and more like regular warrior talk than true brothers. When it came to life, there was little to nothing exciting otherwise. Heavystep refused to take an apprentice, always enjoying general life over the responsibilities that would come along with it. Despite the cold shouldering, all was going well until the battle of fourtrees. Father and son, Shrewheart and Adderblaze, both attended..
Neither returned.
Both were killed in the battle and Heavystep felt horrible, blaming himself for the poor relationship the brothers had. While he is convinced they didn’t truly hate each other, that’s no way to end life. He’s had to move on, not that there was option in that. His mother, Minkclaw, retired due to her age making Heavystep the last warrior of his family. He just wants to go back to feeling carefree and easy about his life, not stressed and alone. Surely he’ll find a way to resume that happy life.
