Larkpaw inherited his genes for fluffiness from his mother. He is covered with a layer of soft, almost kit-like fur that is just thick enough to be considered his adult coat and not something that he still has yet to grow out of. Because he has no particularly standout features, the first thing usually noticed about Larkpaw is his bright, patched orange and white fur. The white patches cover most of his chest, chin, muzzle and legs, leaving the rest of his body a handsome, striped ginger color. He has yet to fully grow into his own body, and it's likely that his fur's color will fade with age, although for now it is one of his most defining traits.
Besides that, well, Larkpaw is pretty much average. He has no outstanding features, he is just your typical tom cat. It is unlikely he'll grow to be too large or muscular, but he isn't underweight or small, either. One might consider him to be odd looking for a ShadowClan cat, considering how stocky he is (as opposed to scrawny) and with a fur color that seems out of place for living in marshy swamps, but being more noticeable to prey and to other cats is something that he's starting to get used to.

» personality:
laidback . simple . blunt . easygoing . practical
Larkpaw is one of the most laidback cats you'll ever meet. Not very much can get under his fur; sure, he gets annoyed at things as most cats do, but not much gets him agitated except for when other cats act irrationally or demand too much of him. He has the ability to keep calm when other cats around him are upset or angry, often times even coming off as aloof and detached in such situations. With a typically cool head and calm demeanor, Larkpaw is an analyst of logical arguments. He gets enjoyment out of picking the flaws out of others' logic and is quite good at it. His bluntness when calling others out has gotten him in trouble, however. Because of this attitude , he tends to think that he's right in most situations, and usually will refuse to back down on his opinion unless he's convinced that he's been sufficiently proven wrong. Such cases will usually leave him sulking for a good couple of days afterward.
Although emotionally distant at times, Larkpaw has a strong dedication to his family. One wouldn't expect him to be very good with kits, but his fondness for his younger siblings has made him become fond of kits in general. His patience is certainly a plus when it comes to dealing with rowdy and playful kits, although he has yet to learn the best ways to go about disciplining them, since he usually hands them off to his mother to deal with whenever he finally gets fed up.
Larkpaw is not particularly ambitious, happy to just live his life and to roll with whatever punches he's given. Whether this is due to him having wisdom beyond his years or whether it's just part of his personality is sometimes a mystery to those who don't know him well. Although it's more likely that it's the latter.

» background:
Lark-kit was too young to fully understand what was happening to his Clan. An innocent kit whose only worries were when he would next get to explore or play or eat, he was blissfully oblivious to the tensions that were running among his older Clanmates. StarClan was an old group of ancestors that had since left them and gone off elsewhere else (or something like that), and beyond that Lark-kit paid little attention. He had a sister and older siblings to play with, and another younger litter mothered by his older sister Hazelstorm, so there was always something going on. He had no need to worry about the adults' concerns.
As he grew older, he started to understand more. The conflicting sides started to become divisive within ShadowClan, and Lark-kit was aware that something was very wrong. He didn't understand why the adults were so upset- the Clan was still together, and they had enough food- so what was the matter?
He was apprenticed to senior warrior who had a strong faith in StarClan. And while his mentor had good intentions and tried to teach the young Larkpaw why StarClan was important, and why it was so significant that their ancestors had gone silent, Larkpaw wasn't particularly interested in hearing it. He wanted to learn to hunt and to defend his newborn siblings, what was the use in learning about StarClan if they weren't coming back anyway?
The conflict between the factions in ShadowClan came to a climax. When it came time to choose a side, the decision for Larkpaw was not a difficult one. Moving camps had startlingly little effect on him. It was true that he was born in and grew up in ShadowClan's camp, but overall he had little investment in the place. He made the simple decision to stay close with his mother and the rest of his family, despite not taking into account how difficult breaking away might be. How would they find enough food? Shelter? Protection from any of the Clans that might take issue with their decision to rebel? Time and adjustment might cause him to reconsider some of these questions. He isn't against going back to join ShadowClan, but for now staying with his family is his priority. It wasn't as if he was particularly invested in the idea of StarClan, anyway.
Although he has gotten older, and thus more independent in recent moons, he still remains close to his mother and spends time with his young siblings as much as possible. His mother's smothering behavior has gotten on his nerves more than once, but the annoyance simply rolls off of his back as most things do.
