Welcome, visitor. Welcome to a forest where four Clans reside in constant competition, where loners and rogues struggle on the sidelines, where the strong are outmaneuvered by the weak and the brave make their own way through will alone. Welcome to a forest where StarClan does not speak, and no cat knows the reason for their silence. In a forest where nothing is certain, the only constant is the will of individuals to survive because every breath could be their last.

When the ancestors they vaunted went silent, there was confusion at first. Then there was panic and fear, unrest and blame. Moons passed without a word from the Clans' starry ancestors, and tensions rose until at last a bloodbath at Fourtrees put an end to the Gathering tradition. Thus began a period of silence between all the Clans of the forest—one which continues to stretch on with no end in sight.

Now StarClan has been silent for a full year, and chaos still reigns. ThunderClan and RiverClan are on the verge of war, and conflict within ShadowClan has split the Clan into two factions—the believers and the rebels. No cat hears from WindClan any more, as they keep to themselves and their so-called prophet, worshipping her in lieu of the ancestors who no-longer offer their guidance. As falling leaves herald the leaf-bare that is on its way, no cat knows what the coming moons will hold for the forest's four Clans.

Abuse at the hands of a two-leg took a serious toll on Gallows, though he wasn't broken he remains wary of the upwalkers. He knows that not all two-legs are bad, his parents and sister's two-leggers were alright folk, but he'll never trust one ever again. It is this that has caused him to have a tendency to take in young cats in need of a mentor. He had to learn the hard way but they shouldn't have to. Not when Gallows is still alive and able bodied.The tom is excitable and takes every task with exuberance that contradicts his mean appearance. At first look the scarred tom look like cruel fighter but once his mouth opens it doesn't close. It doesn't take long to realize it isn't his claws that kill.

Though his life has been harsh, Gallows uses his sense of humor to soften the blow. Not much can anger him and insults and threats roll off him like water on a duck's back. He comes off as brave, easily jumping in head first when there is danger or injustice, but it is more of a lack of fear than anything else. He's meet fear, he's lived with fear and fear shall control him no longer.

Born to Avarice and Pharaoh the beginning of Gallows' life was an easy playful one. His home was the nest of his parent's two-legs, warm and protected from the harsh outdoors. He had a sister and a brother, the three of them left unnamed for when they got two-legs of their own. At six moons Gallows' two-leg came. Or so he thought, but the two-leg that took him did not stay. No, they left him in a cold, smelly nest with another two-leg. One that was not as nice as his parent's pets.

The two-leg dubbed him Gallows and attached a spiked collar around his neck. The thing itched and prodded uncomfortably at his skin whenever he turned his head. It was fine for a while, but there were nights when his two-leg didn't come home. Or when he did he reeked of a foul liquid he sometimes drank and stumbled around the nest, knocking things over. And then there were the smoke sticks. They reeked and burned Gallows' throat and eyes and he avoided his two-leg whenever possible.

Then came the burning. The first time it happened Gallows thought it had been an accident. A bit of the smoke stick falling on his exposed skin, no fur to defend it. After the fourth time he became wary. Eyes watching intently as his two-leg lit up. That was how he earned the scar on his temple and his broken tail. But Gallows left a nasty scratch on the two-legs face for his trouble.

It was then Gallows knew that he couldn't stay here. And one night after the two-leg came home late, reeking once again, he opened the window and Gallows saw his chance. He never looked back.

Street life was hard, Gallows learned, and often times he was left hungry at the end of the day. It didn't stop him from carrying on. He quickly picked up on fighting and scavenging. The scars, lost weight and his overall appearance earned Gallows a reputation. Don't mess with Gallows.

Eventually he found his sister, Jynx, whose two-legs where kind and loving. She offered him a place to stay but he declined. He was no longer fit for kittypet life. Yet he let her feed him whenever he visited her, if only to give her peace of mind.

One day Gallows came across a fight. A large well fed tom picking on a scrawny she-cat. The she-cat couldn't be any older than eight moons or so. Gallows jumped into the fray without a second thought, driving the tom away. The young she-cat was a stray, he mother recently crushed by a monster and her struggling to survive on her own. The scarred tom did what any cat would do really. He took her under his wing, showed her the ropes of the streets and kept her alive. And with that Gallows found his purpose.[/ul]
