His eyes are often at the very least slightly narrowed, though this isn't entirely intentional - Falcontail's resting expression is simply that of one with narrowed eyes, and as a result he looks stoic at best most of the time. His eyes, however, despite this, are a very striking, warm color - a vivid amber he inherited from his mother, Kestrelflower. His tail is longer than average as well, another trait inherited from Kestrelflower - along with his 'cute' small pink nose, almost comical among a face that might be otherwise considered entirely menacing. His fur, though fairly short, is a little on the thick side, offering him a little bit of much-appreciated warmth when the weather turns cold.

When it comes to his personality, Falcontail might seem almost nothing like his appearance - almost as if he was born into the wrong sort of body. In spite of how menacing he might look, he is a cat who would never mean any harm to any of his Clanmates - and likely not even many of those beyond the Clan's borders - and is, at heart, a kind and caring individual, wanting nothing more than to help and satisfy others whenever he can. This kindness, however, might not make itself very apparent - as Falcontail is, for the most part, a very reserved and quiet cat, choosing to keep to himself most of the time, though not out of a lack of friendliness. Instead, he is the type of cat who would listen diligently to his Clanmates' problems, or offer a metaphorical shoulder to cry on; and - until fairly recently, at least - he is usually very relaxed and laid-back, which might make any advice he imparts even better, coming from a place of such calm. Mostly, however, Falcontail doesn't have a lot of chance to give this advice - as he doesn't ever tend to seek out the company of other cats, instead simply sitting near them, perhaps, but never speaking unless spoken to first. His reserved nature isn't exactly introvertedness - he does desire to be near others, and to befriend them - but it simply means he doesn't often join in on a conversation unless it's clear he is wanted, instead preferring to just listen.
As far as Falcontail is concerned, exactly two things are of utmost importance - his kin, and his responsibility to the Clan. It seems unfair, then, that he has had to watch his family be almost entirely ripped apart; as the Clan split, most of his kin left for the rebel camp, leaving only Falcontail and his littermate Sparrowflight behind. Falcontail had always been close with his family, even if it was in his own reserved sort of way - but always willing to listen when they needed, and loving each and every one of them with all of his heart. With his family torn apart, Falcontail has grown even more withdrawn, mostly keeping to himself and no longer even daring to spend a lot of time with his brother Sparrowflight - it's almost as if some small part of him fears that it's only a matter of time before he might lose him as well. Still, the fact remains that Falcontail values bonds of blood above all things - those being the cats he has chosen to devote all of his affections, instead of focusing on building friendships outside of his kin. This has left him feeling somewhat lonely as of late, and as a result his disposition has become more hardened, and even a tinge bitter - though before he had been an entirely even-tempered cat, now he can have a tendency to make sharp remarks every now and then (though never very loudly), a hint of this bitterness seeping through - and he even has been somewhat less patient with cats and situations that he normally might have tolerated without even so much as a second thought. Tension is, on the whole, high with him now; overall, he has turned into a much more highstrung cat, worrying about much more and letting stress get to him, in spite of the calmness he used to possess.
When involved in a disagreement - at least as long as his Clan's or his kin's safety doesn't hang in the balance of said dispue - Falcontail is on the whole much more likely to yield to the other's opinion and drop it than to keep arguing his own point, whether or not he truly has changed his own stance or not. He simply doesn't find arguments worth it, and his kind nature, and his desire to satisfy others, means that he would much rather agree when he didn't truly mean it than to press a subject that will only make tensions higher in the long run. One of the only exceptions to this would be if the argument involved someone he cared about - as in, they were somehow in danger of being hurt or shamed - in which case a stubbornness otherwise never shown does become very clear. If the dispute is minor, he would in this case seek some sort of compromise, at least, and not give up until one had been reached - but in more major cases, he might prove a much more obstinate force. The only other exception to his usually passive nature would be if he felt he needed to defend another cat - such as if he felt they were being unfairly attacked, in which case his values would demand that he not be so compliant... though he would usually still approach the situation from a hesistant, accommodating viewpoint, more likely to again suggest some sort of compromise or even just do his best to dissipate the situation entirely if possible.
When it comes to his duties as a warrior, Falcontail is diligent and loyal; he was never the type of apprentice to shirk out on his duties, instead going about them with such a seriousness that he was likely to be laughed at by others, simply because of how dedicated he seemed. He never would have minded if so - to Falcontail, loyalty is very important, and in his opinion the best way to be loyal to his Clan is to be the best warrior he can possibly be, capable of protecting his Clanmates and also standing as an example for the young of the Clan. It might seem, though, that Falcontail takes things a bit too seriously - not only in matters of his diligence, but his almost complete lack of a sense of humor. It isn't that Falcontail dislikes jokes, or anything such as that - he simply doesn't understand humor or playfulness most of the time, coming from a place where he is almost always completely serious and genuine. Sarcasm can even give him a little bit of pause, as he almost never uses it - most everything he says, when he does say anything, is usually completely honest and genuine. It's almost as if not being genuine or serious has just never crossed Falcontail's mind - and it's for this reason that humor or sarcasm can come at such puzzlement for him.
» background: The first-born kit in Kestrelflower's second litter, Falconkit was always bigger than his littermate Sparrowkit - and his sturdy frame, even at that young age, probably helped to earn him his name, if his gray-and-white pelt did not. But despite being big for a kit, and sturdy in frame, Falconkit was always a little on the sickly side - not anything major, but often the kit could be heard coughing or sniffling, going through bouts of illness and kittencough that most other kits would not have (or at the very least, being ill more than a normal kitten would have been.) Despite this, Falconkit's kithood went by without much trouble - besides the death of his older sister, Tawnypaw, when he was very young. His mother, Kestrelflower, was as a result somewhat overprotective and smothering of her second litter, and under her rough but motherly paw he and his brother were soon apprentices, not long after his older sisters, Duskfang and Hazelstorm, had become warriors. Falconpaw had even been apprenticed to Duskfang herself.
As an apprentice, Falconpaw always looked up to his older sisters, especially his mentor, and swore to himself to one day be warriors as good as they were. As such, and coupled with his serious nature, Falconpaw threw himself into his training without wavering, dedicating whatever time he could to bettering his skills - though he still found the code very important, so much of his time was spent hunting and caring for the elders. Falconpaw was so absorbed in his apprenticeship that what little time he didn't spend training was spent with the elders, so much so that some might have thought he was 'sucking up to them' - but in truth, he simply respected them and wanted to follow the code as best he could. Falconpaw's only 'friends' as a result (besides his own kin) were the elders, then, and this complete and total dedication to the Clan instead of 'wasting time' meant that it wasn't long before Falconpaw had grown into a formidable and skilled young cat, ready for his warrior name.
But his somewhat poor immune system hadn't 'fixed itself' since kithood; though he often had bouts of sniffles as an apprentice, it wasn't until right after he and his brother had received their warrior names that Falcontail fell truly ill, and after a quartermoon was confined to the medicine cats' den, coughing. For a full moon, Falcontail struggled to shake off this illness - which was likely whitecough - but anytime he seemed to be getting better, it seemed the illness would flare up and come back full force.
While Sparrowflight went to his first Gathering as a warrior, Falcontail was kept home. By the time the next Gathering rolled around, he was finally doing better, something he was sure he had StarClan to thank for - but it was decided that he should miss this Gathering as well, as it wasn't worth risking him getting ill again, and it had only been a few days since he'd been sick. As a result, as soon as Falcontail was deemed well enough to return to his warrior duties, he worked even harder to compensate for his missed time, feeling almost left behind by his littermate and the other warriors. But he never forgot how lucky he was - it was almost a miracle, in his eyes, that the illness had never turned into greencough, or at the very least, if it had, that he had recovered regardless. He was certain StarClan was watching over him, and he placed even more faith in them and in the warrior code than ever as a result of this experience.
Falcontail missed a lot while ill; his mother had given birth to a new litter of kits, Finchkit and Lark-kit, tensions had begun to rise higher and higher among the Clans, and he had never gotten to even attend his first Gathering. When that first Gathering came, though, he was left not with happiness but horror at the events that unfolded - a battle (or more accurately, a bloodbath) broke out at Fourtrees, and as a result, the very Gathering tradition itself was shattered. Though Falcontail returned battered but relatively unwounded, considering what had happened, it was his heart that felt the most hurt - a night that should have been the most important in his life, his first Gathering, had been ruined, and he was devastated at the battle that had occured and at talk that StarClan had abandoned them. He couldn't believe that - his faith in StarClan and the code was unshakeable, no matter how upset he might feel. When his own kin showed doubt in StarClan, Falcontail was even more hurt, and he was beyond that when they chose to leave as the Clan split, leaving only him and Sparrowflight. Falcontail did not resent his kin, per se, but he did still grow more bitter and tense as a result of this, especially when he had placed so much love and faith in his family - a family he had considered unwavering. As a result of all that had happened, he was left with only one major question - if even a family like his own, which he had considered so strong, had been split by these tensions, then what chance did anyone have if they forsook StarClan? Clearly the answer was in the code and their ancestors, as it always had been - and Falcontail could only hope that one day his kin would see that again.[/ul]
