Welcome, visitor. Welcome to a forest where four Clans reside in constant competition, where loners and rogues struggle on the sidelines, where the strong are outmaneuvered by the weak and the brave make their own way through will alone. Welcome to a forest where StarClan does not speak, and no cat knows the reason for their silence. In a forest where nothing is certain, the only constant is the will of individuals to survive because every breath could be their last.
When the ancestors they vaunted went silent, there was confusion at first. Then there was panic and fear, unrest and blame. Moons passed without a word from the Clans' starry ancestors, and tensions rose until at last a bloodbath at Fourtrees put an end to the Gathering tradition. Thus began a period of silence between all the Clans of the forest—one which continues to stretch on with no end in sight.
Now StarClan has been silent for a full year, and chaos still reigns. ThunderClan and RiverClan are on the verge of war, and conflict within ShadowClan has split the Clan into two factions—the believers and the rebels. No cat hears from WindClan any more, as they keep to themselves and their so-called prophet, worshipping her in lieu of the ancestors who no-longer offer their guidance. As falling leaves herald the leaf-bare that is on its way, no cat knows what the coming moons will hold for the forest's four Clans.

The year is 2025, and a nuclear power plant in the United States just exploded.
The radiation has spread from Nevada across the United States into Canada and South America, devastating the human populations. Those who stay ahead of the fallout can escape, but they have to leave the continents forever. With little choice in a matter of life and death, what little remains of the Western peoples has decided to flee across the seas to the Old World. The humans could take nothing with them from their old lives, forsaking their homes, pets, and history.
With the humans gone, canines must learn how to survive on their own. The housedogs must find a way to get out of their homes if they want to live. Strays are instinctively coming together and forming packs; there’s power in numbers after all. Wolves, foxes, and coyotes, no longer hunted by man, are investigating the empty streets and houses, looking for food. Everyone is hungry, so beware!
Our story begins with its focus on the former state of Louisiana. The canines within its borders have decided to rename the state to fit the new era: Dark Hollow. Survival cannot always be guaranteed as the forces of nature can’t always be avoided. It’s hard to fight off your enemies without a pack, and sickness won’t always be overcome.
Housedog, will you make it on the streets? Wolves, who will you hunt? Can you survive without an owner, or were you born without one? Will you come to the newly named Dark Hollow?
